Its capricious orography situates the town to the south of some extremely beautiful and natural gorges, one of which its most important is the Algendar, and to the north of steep hills such as Santa Águeda with its 264 metres, entertaining one with its view over the town and the vast, totally virgin, Mediterranean woods which surround it.

The municipality was built in the 13th century in these surroundings; the Sant Bertomeu church was built later on in the 18th century from which emanate the white streets of its city centre where one can let time go by and stroll along peacefully to the España Square (Plaza España). This square holds a typical home made product market every Saturday with local cheese, minced and spiced sausages elaborated with Minorcan bred meat, typical pastry cakes, jams and natural honey. We can even come across items manufactured by the most skilful hands such as macramé (coarse lacework), esparto objects, etched glass and leatherwork; and, undoubtedly, the abarcas, a kind of sandal made of leather and tyre-rubber souls used by the people who worked in the country side. All these are accompanied by folkloric dances offering a unique opportunity to capture the essence of the Minorcan customs.

Another meeting point of the island is the visit to the Centro de Natura de Menorca, an exhibition with interactive resources where one can get a clear idea of the island's natural scenery declared by the U.N.E.S.C.O. Reserve of the Biosphere.

Ferreries is internationally known for its shoe factories, which combine craftsmanship and the latest look in design, as well as furniture manufacturing and fashion jewellery. These items can be purchased at the main number of factories as they have their own shops.

Once completing the tour around this charming town it is time to discover the paradises of its natural surroundings; a route through the beautiful gorges and its exuberant vegetation and 80 metre high cliffs where a surprising animal life take refuge.
