Found between
Cala Millor and S’Illot, Sa Coma can be found in the
heart of the Mallorca east coast. The time to get
into the resort from the Son Sant Joan Internation
Airport on the outskirts of Palma can vary greatly,
but this journey will usually last about 2 hours.
If going on vacation means going bar hopping through
the night at different karaoke bars and night clubs,
then Sa Coma is not the place for you. This
town tends to attract a more family based market,
limiting the amount of “nightlife” provided. There
are a few bars in Sa Coma, but even
they tend to have little business after midnight.
It is a great
vacation spot for families with small children,
though. Its wide, sandy beaches are noted for their
water quality, cleanliness and safety. With a broad,
shallow shelf, children can enjoy countless hours of
fun in the sand.
Other water sports are also popular in Sa Coma.
Paragliding is a rather expensive choice for
vacationers, but a trip in a glass bottom boat is
great for tourists of any age. If you have had
enough of the water and beach activities, other
options are available as well. Horseback riding,
mini-golfing, bowling, go-carting and bicycling are
other fun activities for visitors.
Day trips outside of Sa Coma are an option
for tourists. A popular day trip takes families from
Sa Coma to the large safari-park located in Cala
Millor. With tours in a safari bus, children can see
animals like apes, elephants, gazelles and ostriches
roam in simulated natural environments.
Another popular
attraction located just outside of Sa Coma is
the Caves of Arta. Inside of the caves you will see
amazing rock formations! The Caves of Arta remain at
a constant 17 degrees, so it makes for a nice tour
on a hot and sunny day.
Finding fine dining is not a problem when you visit
Sa Coma. Many nights you will have a hard
time deciding which restaurant you want to dine at!
Most have repeat business night after night, so make
sure you give yourself time to get a table!
Sa Coma is not a place to visit in
the wintertime, as many hotels and businesses close
up due to the cold weather. However, in the
summertime it can get quite hot and humid, so
dressing appropriately will be a key factor in
enjoying your vacation.
So, if planning a trip with your family in the
Mediterranean is in your future, Sa Coma may
just be the perfect spot for you.
